Bach in the Subways 2018 is coming to Philadelphia! We’re looking for musicians, singers and volunteers to bring the Bach to the City of Brotherly Love at transit stations, other public spaces, and surrounding counties. We’re seeking performances for all five days – March 21-25 – let’s get a big turnout!
In addition to transit stations, Bach in the Subways Philadelphia encourages performers to seek out public and quasi-public spaces as venues, since transit station locations may be limited and may have certain restrictions. Nonetheless, various public transit agencies are supportive of Bach in the Subways performances, subject to certain modest restrictions.
You may perform in one of the major SEPTA stations with a permit. Applications (which require a copy of a current photo ID) can be obtained from, and are currently being received by, SEPTA at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 215-580-7643. You can also visit SEPTA’s website for more information. SEPTA also advises that special arrangements could be made at an additional location such as the Broad Street line concourse. Please include “Bach in the Subways” in your application and make special requests, like amplification (for certain electronic instruments such as digital piano), as part of the application. A copy of the Application and Rules can be found here:
Once you’ve gotten everything set up, register your performance on the Bach in the Subways website and get started practicing!
Applicants and volunteers please contact email@example.com for further information, venue ideas, special requests and to coordinate time-slot performances at Suburban Station and Jefferson Station.
