Diana Irving has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California since 1984, although she grew up in the midwest (St. Louis area). She is a mental health therapist and has done clinical supervision of therapist interns and been a field instructor for graduate students working toward earning their MSW degree. Diana currently works at a non profit agency in Palm Springs and is about to transition into a private practice later this year.
She has played flute since elementary school (played piccolo for about 5 yrs) and been involved with music at various levels including school and church bands/orchestra, directing choirs, playing for weddings and other special events. This past year two of her flute duet arrangements were published on the flutetunes website. This is her third year playing for Bach in the Subways.
Valimina Spangler is the daughter of Diana’s son, in 8th grade and first chair advanced band in middle school. She demonstrated such good discipline as a musician, that the school band director requested that she learn to play the trombone, as their band was short on low brass. This is her first year playing for Bach in the Subways.
Alexa Smith is Diana’s daughter. Alexa has had experience playing flute and piccolo in high school concert and marching band, as well as church events; she also has vocal music experience from voice lessons and various choir experiences in mostly high school and college. She is a graduate of California Baptist University with a degree in English, completed at honors level a teacher credentialing program at William Jessup University in the Sacramento area, and is now an elementary school teacher in Riverside County. This is her second year playing for Bach in the Subways.
