Since 2015, the Joaquín Turina Music School of Seville-Spain joins Bach in The Subways to perform a program of pieces by Bach. Musicians include violinists, string orchestra and piano.

We are continuing with the tradition of Bach in the Subways in the Solano county. This is our year number six!

Tina Christiansen is a highly active concert organist with an extensive international career as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
Tina has played numerous concerts throughout Denmark as well as more than 80 concerts across large parts of Europe (Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Latvia) and in Russia (the Far East Coast, Siberia, Saint Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, etc.).
She has played solo concerts at some of Europe’s largest organs in e.g. St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in London, Riga Dom in Latvia, Kaliningrad Cathedral in Russia and St Florian Stiftsbasilika (International Bruckner Festival) in Austria.
Tina has also performed as an organ soloist at concerts with the Odense Symphony Orchestra and the Prince’s Music Corps.
In 2011, she graduated from The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus (DK) with the highest marks at the master’s exam in the class of Professor Ulrik Spang-Hanssen. After completing the master’s exam, Tina was accepted with top marks in the Soloist class (the advanced postgraduate diploma), from which she made her debut concert in 2013. Alongside the Soloist class, Tina has studied with Anders Johnsson at Malmö Academy of Music, Sweden, and finally she has supplemented her studies with masterclasses with Dame Gillian Weir, Roger Fisher, Nigel Allcoat, Leo van Doeselaar, Paolo Crivellaro, Marie-Louise Langlais, Winfried Bönig, Bjørn Andor Drage, Eric Lebrun, Ullrich Böhme, Michele Croese, Hans Fagius and Thomas Trotter.
During the time of her studies, Tina has participated in competitions at home and abroad and won awards in the following: 1st prize at the Southern Danish Talent Competition (2006) and 3rd prize at the “4th Feliks Nowowiejski Organ Competition”, Poland 2010. In 2011, she achieved a final place at ” 12. Marcello Galanti International Organ Competition” in Italy. In 2010, Tina also won The Royal Academy of Music ‘s Soloist competition.
Tina has received the Memorial Scholarship of Thøger Rasmussen, The Ejnar Hansen Prize and the Music Scholarship of Viggo Makwarth and Veronika Makwarth.
Tina has also studied harpsichord and chamber music with harpsichordist Lars Colding Wolf. As a harpsichordist and continuo player, she has taken part in several major oratorio performances with the Aarhus Bach Society and CD recordings with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and the Randers Chamber Orchestra. As an orchestral musician on organ, harpsichord, piano and celeste, she has played many concerts with the Odense Symphony Orchestra, the South Jutland Symphony Orchestra, the Schleswig Music Corps, the Danish Chamber Orchestra and the Danish Youth Ensemble. In addition, she frequently works as an accompanist for a large number of choirs, and for more than ten years she has played in the duos Aiolos Sax & Organ Duo (with Henriette Jensen on saxophone) and Doppler Duo (with Monica Schmidt Andersen on recorder). In 2024, Doppler Duo released the album “Danish Concertos for Recorder and Organ” with world premiere recordings of four Danish pieces and transcriptions for recorder and organ by the composers Thomas Koppel, Martin Lohse, Thomas Clausen and Lars Kristian Hansen.
Tina’s repertoire is large and spans many centuries. She has played the world premieres of organ music by the composers Anders Koppel (DK), Niels Marthinsen (DK), Rasmus Zwicki (DK), Tróndur Bogason (FO), Erik Højsgaard (DK), Irina Emeliantseva (RU/DE), Hans-Henrik Nordstrøm (DK), Lars Kristian Hansen (DK) and Indra Riše (LV) as well as chamber music by Christos Farmakis (GR), Bo Gunge (DK), David Loxley-Blount (UK), Martin Lohse (DK), Frederik Magle (DK), Niels Chr. Rasmussen (DK), Thomas Clausen (DK), Lars Kristian Hansen (DK), Bo Lundby-Jæger (DK), Tore Bjørn Larsen (DK), Per Skriver (DK) and Morten Ladehoff (DK).
Tina is organist and director of music at Ansgar’s Church in Odense, and she is the initiator and artistic director of the Odense International Organ Festival. She holds board positions in four Danish cultural and educational associations and finally she teaches organ students privately as well as at Danish National Academy of Music, MGK Fyn and Løgumkloster Church Music School.

DR. BARBARA BAIRD, a critically acclaimed recitalist, has performed throughout the United States as well as Argentina, Brazil, Europe and Australia. In 1984-1985 she performed a series of nine all-Bach recitals in celebration of the tercentenary of J.S. Bach. She continues to teach and concertize performing the works of Bach.
