Joseph Messick Bach Suite 2: Allemande and more

We have ferry boats in the San Juan Islands, not subways, and I travel them 4 days a week. I will perform outside on the sundeck if it’s nice, and inside the main cabin if it’s not. I am celebrating 50 years of playing Bach on the cello, starting with the Minuets from Suite #1 for solo Cello, BWV1007, first played at age 8. For 20 years I was a member of The Florida Orchestra in Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater and a few years ago my wife and I followed our dream of moving back to the Pacific NW. Now I own a business that trucks local and regional organic foods to Co-ops and grocery stores. During travel times on the ferries I play my cello for practice and the enjoyment of fellow passengers. It’s fun and keeps me in shape for recitals and chamber music performances on land. When I play solo I always start and end with Bach, following the example of the great cellist Pablo Casals.
