Play Bach was born in Monterrey, Mexico, as an initiative to share the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in an open and accessible way with the public. Today, this tradition continues in Lublin, Poland, where we gather each year to celebrate this musical encounter.
Thanks to the international movement Bach in the Subways, we have been organizing this wonderful event for almost ten years (approaching 2027), dedicated to sharing Bach’s music with the community. What began as an individual initiative has grown into a meaningful moment for both the musicians of our city and the audience who joins us.
Every year, more people in Lublin take part in this celebration. The event features cello ensembles with children, teenagers, and adults, as well as violin groups, guitarists, and singers. This diversity of performers creates a unique space where different generations connect through music.
Play Bach in Lublin has become an artistic and community gathering — a moment to share, listen, and celebrate Bach’s music together.
The event is directed by Mexican teacher María De Alba, currently based in Poland, who leads the project with the belief that music can connect cultures, generations, and people.
