David and Paulette Miller

DAVID BREHM MILLER, Flutist: David Miller was born in Los Angeles and began playing the flute at a young age. He subsequently studied with Roger Stevens of the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, he has performed in master classes with Jean-Pierre Rampal and James Galway.
David and his wife, Paulette, have been a flute and harp duo since 1971, and have played for hundreds of weddings, receptions, church services, public recitals and other festive occasions. In 2007 the Millers became part-time residents in Murlo, a historic borgo near Siena, Italy, and, together with pianist, Geoffrey Merrill, perform regularly in its Settimana Della Musica during August as well as other recitals throughout Italy. He currently plays flute and piccolo with the Pasadena Crown City Orchestra and the Crown City Flute Choir and has been principal flutist for the Los Angeles Nova Orchestra and the Los Angeles Highland Park Symphony.
David Miller is also a well-respected music educator, having taught in California private conservatories and public schools for the past 37 years. He has received the Southern California Outstanding Music Educator award from the state music teaching association. Now retired, Mr. Miller remains a coach for woodwind groups of youth bands and orchestras in Pasadena and surrounding cities.

PAULETTE MARIE MILLER, Harpist: Paulette Miller is a native of California and grew up in a musical family. As a young child she studied piano, guitar, flute and oboe. She entered Cal State University Los Angeles where she began studying harp with the renowned harpist, Susann McDonald and has continued her studies on Celtic harp with Aedan MacDonnell and Deborah Henson-Conant.
Paulette performs regularly with her husband David in a flute/harp duo throughout Southern California. She is now involved during the summer months in various recitals in Italy, often expanding their repertoire by performing with other musicians.
Paulette is also outstanding music educator. She was an elementary music teacher, mentor, and curriculum writer with Los Angeles Unified School District and has been honored by California Music Educators’ Association. She is currently a part-time professor teaching Early Childhood and Elementary Music Education at California State University, Los Angeles and Glendale College. She continues her involvement in education with TCAP, The California Arts Project. Paulette is an author, music producer and publisher with Language Through Music Inc, which publishes early childhood music materials and college textbooks and is a much sought after clinician in the field of music education.

Sun Jung Lee

A native of Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Sun Jung Lee was a recipient of Kwanjeong Foundation Scholarship and has been selected as the awardee of Pi Kappa Lambda the National Music Honor Society in 2011 for her exceptional musical activities and academic excellence. After getting the master’s degree and graduate diploma at New England Conservatory in Boston, Ms. Lee finished her doctorate degree at Thornton School at University of Southern California. Her principal teachers include James Buswell, Martin Chalifour, Daniel Shinderov, and Chong-suk Li.

As a member of chamber ensembles and orchestras, Dr. Lee has internationally performed in various venues, including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Seiji Ozawa Hall in Lenox, Broad Stage in Santa Monica, and Disney hall in Los Angeles, California. She has also performed frequently in recitals and as soloist with orchestra, such as Long Island Youth Orchestra and Seoul National Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Lee won top prizes in many competitions, such as Seoul National Competition, International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, Iwha & KyungHyang Competition, and Jungang Music Concours.

As an active chamber musician, she has worked with renowned chamber musicians as Anton Kuerti, Robert MacDonald, Samuel Rhodes, Borromeo String Quartet, Brentano String Quartet, and St. Lawrence String quartet. She has participated and performed in prestigious festivals which include Tanglewood Music Center,Banff Centre, Taos Summer Festival, Mozart Salzburg Festival, Pacific Music Festival, International Holland Music Sessions, and ENCORE Summer Festival.

Yu-Ting Wu

Yu-Ting Wu is a violinist from the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. Born in Taichung, Taiwan, she moved with her family to Maryland at the age of four and began studying violin with her father. Yu-Ting has performed regularly in orchestras since the age of ten.

Though classically trained, Yu-Ting is well versed in all styles of music. She has performed with Baltimore-based chamber ensemble The American Virtuosi; rock band Crack the Sky; The Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra; variety dance/jazz/Latin band, Raggs & The All Stars; North American Frame Drum Association artists Yshai Afterman, Shane Shanahan, Patrick Graham, and Mac Ritchey.

Yu-Ting holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts for violin performance under the tutelage of Mark Menzies and Lorenz Gamma. Yu-Ting can be found performing with Center Stage Opera, Zamira Quartet, American Youth Symphony, Waraynon Initiative Network Orchestra, and folk bands Brother, Sister and hooded eyes.

Callie Galvez

Callie Gálvez is a Cuban-American cellist based in Los Angeles, California.

In over twenty cities, including New York City, Boston, Dallas, Berlin, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, Gálvez has studied and promoted cello as a versatile voice needed in all genres of music. She has attended, as a scholarship recipient, the Montecito International Music Festival, Lev Aronson Legacy Festival, Stanislaus Chamber Festival and most recently served as a principal cellist on full-fellowship at the National Orchestral Institute. Passionate about opera, Gálvez was contracted as principal cellist for Opera Buffs, Inc at Zipper Hall (Colburn) and assistant principal for the Pacific Opera Project Company this past year. She enjoys being a frequent artist for the LA Violoncello Honors Society and has been a cellist in many local symphonies including Peninsula, Los Angeles Jewish, Local 47, Bakersfield, La Mirada, and Bellflower Symphonies. Gálvez has recorded on many stages and studios such as SOKA performing arts center, SIR, Premier Studios NYC, Pig Sound Studio, Hybrid Studios, Ostin Recording Studio and EastWest Studios.

Classically-trained cellist, Callie Gálvez thoroughly enjoys the versatility of the cello while performing and improvising in jazz, rock, pop concerts and recordings. She has played in venues such as the Forum, Shrine, Hotel Cafe, Silverlake Lounge, and Walt Disney Concert hall with well-known bands some of which include Circa Survive, Marco Antonio Solis, and Until The Ribbon Breaks. Callie Gálvez currently lives in Los Angeles as a recording artist, chamber musician, educator, and performer. As an educator, she enjoys teaching as the cello instructor at AMUSE Music Center where she maintains a private studio of over thirty cellists. She is a member of MTAC (Music Teachers of Association of California) and co-founder of the AMUSE String Orchestra program. A passionate supporter of inner city youth programs, Gálvez teaches at Children of Promise Preparatory Academy and has been a frequent artist coach at Gustavo Dudamel’s Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (YOLA).
