Vardan Gasparyan | 10-HR Bach Marathon | Union Station | Location C by Vignes St.

Born in Yerevan, Armenia cellist Vardan Gasparyan has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Armenia, United States, Canada and Germany at venues including Carnegie Hall, Alex Theatre, Glenn Gould Studio, Armenian Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre and Salle Claude-Champagne, receiving high praise and performing to sold out audiences. Gasparyan’s performances have been broadcast on Armenian National Radio, Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s “Sundays Live” and Chicago Classical Music Station. At age 16 Gasparyan made his debut with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra performing the cello Concerto No.1 by Camille Saint- Saëns. He is a prizewinner of several competitions including Schmidbauer International Competition, Carmel Music competition, Emin Khachaturian Young Artists competition and “Performing Arts Prize” winner in Fine Arts Club of Pasadena. He has collaborated and performed chamber music with renowned artists such as Arnold Steinhardt, Ani and Aida Kavafians, Daniel Hope, Ronald Leonard, Paul Coletti and the Ébène Quartet. Vardan received his Bachelor’s degree from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory studying with renowned cellist, conductor and former member of “Komitas” String Quartet Aram Talalyan. He has appeared at several Music Festivals and Concert Series including the first Armenian National Cello Festival, Laguna Beach Music Festival, “Dilijan” Chamber Music Series, Piatigorsky International Cello Festival and Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival. In 2011, he appeared performing in the featured film “HERE” (which is a 2011 Sundance International Film Festival Official Selection), and is featured on the film’s soundtrack. Currently Vardan is a Master of Music degree candidate at The Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California where he studies with Ronald Leonard.
