Jennifer Chun, cello | LAMP Arts Program

Jennifer Chun, cellist, will be performing the Minuets and Gigues from the First and Third Bach Suites for Solo Cello. Jennifer Chun is a cellist and multi-talented performing artist who has written, produced, and directed shows and events throughout Southern California. She is also a working actor whose work includes television, film and theatre. She has a deep love for music, creativity and the performing arts.Jennifer Chun will be performing the Minuets and Gigues from the First and Third Bach Suites for Solo Cello. Mary Kelly, viola | LAMP Arts Center

Mary Kelly will be at the LAMP Art Program performing selections of the Bach Cello Suites.

Mary Kelly, Viola/Violin joined the Pasadena Conservatory of Music community as chair of strings in 2009 after serving as Director of the Bethel College Academy of Performing Arts (BCAPA) Suzuki Strings program in Newton, KS. In Kansas she was assistant principal viola of the Wichita Symphony and principal viola of the Wichita Grand Opera. Ms. Kelly received her Bachelor of Music in viola performance from University of Texas at Austin and her Masters in viola from Wichita State University. She has worked with teachers across the country including Roland Vamos, Roger Myers, Donald McInnes, Catherine Consiglio, and Christine Rutledge. While studying in Austin, she received Suzuki pedagogy instruction from Phyllis Young and Lori Scott as part of the Strings Project Program. That experience led her to start Suzuki pedagogy training at Ottawa Suzuki Institute in 2004. Since then, she has completed training through book 7 in Suzuki violin with teachers Elayne Ras, Ed Kreitman, Susan Kempter, Julia Hardie, Joanne Melvin, Alice Joy-Lewis, Carol Dallinger, and Ed Sprunger. In the summers, she teaches and performs at several Suzuki Institutes and festivals around the country. She is currently President of the SMAC-LA board.

Maggie Parkins, cello | Laemmle Claremont 5

Maggie Parkins will be performing selections from the Bach Cello Suites in front of Laemmle Claremont 5 from 10am-11am.
An uncommonly versatile musician, cellist MAGGIE PARKINS is equally at home performing chamber music, orchestral music and the avant-garde, and has concertized throughout the Americas and Europe.In addition to being a member of the Eclipse Quartet Maggie is also the cellist of the Los Angeles based Mojave Piano Trio and formerly with the Robin Cox Ensemble. Her interest in music outside the classical tradition has led her to perform with Todd Sickafoose, the Jazz Passengers, the Anthony Braxton Tri Centric Ensemble, percussonist Alex Cline and The Phantom Orchard Orchestra. As an orchestral performer, Parkins has performed under the batons of Seiji Ozawa, Leonard Bernstein, Simon Rattle and Andre Previn. An active recording artist as well, Parkins has recorded extensively with harpist Zeena Parkins and with accordionist Guy Klusevsek on the Tzadik, Avan and Victo labels.  Ms. Parkins has performed around the world at prestigious venues including the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Banff Centre, Festival Internacional de Musica de Cadaques (Spain), Heidelberg Castle Festival, Spoleto (USA and Italy), the Taktlos Festival (Switzerland), and the Bach Aria Festival in New York. She attended the Eastman School of Music and  has a doctorate from SUNY at Stony Brook. She has taught cello and chamber music at the University of California,  Irvine since 1997.
