Candy Bilyk | 10-HR Bach Marathon | Union Station | Location B by Subway and Starbucks

Candy Bilyk, viola 10:25am-11:00am at Union Station, Location B by Starbucks and Subway

Complete Cello Suite No, 2 on Viola (Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Menuetto I and II, Gigue)

Menuetto I and II from Suite No 1
Gigue from Suite No 1

I live and work in the Los Angeles area, and sometimes in Minneapolis, MN. My music ranges from sweet to sinister, and has been described as both “a poetic musical valentine to love” and “dark, complex, and thorny” (TC Daily Planet). No style is off limits, but I am especially known for my string writing and darker works. Sometimes I describe my most natural style as Satie meets Stravinsky, Shostakovich, or Herrmann. I am a skilled and trained collaborator, ready to jump into a project at any stage of development but most effective when brought in early. Many people think a composer comes in only near the end of a project’s timeline, but much can be done and contributed early on, to the benefit of everyone involved. I compose music for video games, theater, film/tv, and the concert hall; I have played in recording sessions and live ensembles of all sizes; I’ve music directed theater productions; and I have more than 8 years of private teaching experience. I hold a B.M. in Music Composition from The Catholic University of America and a Certificate in Film Scoring from UCLA. https://candybilyk.com
