Greenville Symphony Orchestra Presents: Lollipops!

Join Jason Currin, Percussion, and Traysie Amick, Narration, as we wish Mr. Bach a happy birthday with Giraffes Can’t Dance! And of course, we’ll perform music from the dancing master himself, JS Bach!

Gerald the Giraffe wants nothing more than to dance.  With crooked knees and thin legs, it’s harder for a giraffe than you would think.  Gerald is finally able to dance to his own tune when he gets some encouraging words from an unlikely friend.

Lollipops concerts introduce children to classical music and instruments of the orchestra through interactive concerts presented by members of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.  Led by SCCT Principal Teaching Artist Traysie Amick and GSO Education Director Braxton Ballew, each Lollipops concert features chamber ensembles accompanying a storybook reading.  And of course, audience members receive a lollipop at the end of each performance!

Lollipops concerts are appropriate for children K3-5th grade, although all children and adults are welcome.  Programs last approximately 30 minutes.  Reservations are not required and admission is free!Join Jason Currin, Percucssion, and Traysie Amick, Narration, as we wish Mr. Bach a happy birthday with Giraffes Can’t Dance! T’ang Quartet

T’ang Quartet joins the Singapore edition of Bach in the Subways Day

Come 21 March 2015, T’ang Quartet will join the Singapore edition of Bach in the Subways Day. The Quartet will be providing Singaporeans an opportunity to experience the art form of classical music performance live and up close, with stiff chairs and intimidating concert halls removed from the equation. The Quartet will take classical music to the streets, right to the hearts of Singaporeans in up to five (5) intimate and unconventional underground locations across our island.

About T’ang Quartet

Cutting an unmistakable silhouette on the local and global stage, the Quartet comprising Ang Chek Meng (2ND VIOLIN), Ng Yu-Ying (1ST VIOLIN), Leslie Tan (CELLO) and Lionel Tan (VIOLA) has been pushing the boundaries of classical music since 1992.

The Quartet started its professional career in 1999 with unanimity of purpose: to break new ground in sharing the sheer joy and pleasure of music to a larger audience, and set new standards of artistic achievement. A playful reference to the last names of the Quartet’s members, ‘T’ang’ also symbolizes the golden age of cultural expression in the Tang Dynasty, a nod to their Asian roots.

Trained in London and Moscow, the Quartet found its genesis when Ang Chek Meng, Ng Yu- Ying & brothers Leslie & Lionel Tan were members of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Forming the Quartet in 1992, they embarked on a musical journey together, exploring the frontiers of string chamber music. Twenty-two years later, the Quartet continues to evolve, surprising and delighting audiences with its innovative dexterity.
