LIMUS

Papa Bach and music of his time – 5 hours! Come and go as you like. Enjoy our lovely pupils playing old music freshly on the piano, violin, cello, flute, guitar.  Listen to stories from Bach’s life, told by our older students, try to write a new piece of music in Bach’s style – or, why not, learn about the basic secrets of music writing. Finally, our two harpsichords will be open. Try-out, learn, listen and enjoy!

Our place is just 5 minutes to go from Lunds central station. Not longer than a normal subway station.

LIMUS is a private music school for all ages, providing lessons in eight languages. Head of school is Gabriele Katthän, pianist, specialised in barock music. LIMUS offers ABRSM exams and a lively concert activity for all its students.

João Ramos Marta (flute)

João Ramos Marta (flute) was born in Portugal where he studied the flute and got his degree cum laude from the Conservatório Superior de Música do Porto with Olavo Barros. Thereafter he continued  his  studies in Holland with a scholarship from Nuffic and Gulbenkian Foundation where he graduated with a Master-degree. He studied modern flute with, among others, Jaques Zoon and traverso flute with Wilbert Hazelzet. He plays with several ensembles, particularly at Ensemble Conservatoire. At ‘ArtEZ institute of the arts’  he  coordinates the division of young talent and teaches modern flute, method and chamber music. João plays on a gold Jochen Mehnert flute and several traverso flutes build by Fridtjof Aurin and Alain Weemaels. Alieke Pijl (flute) started playing the flute as a child and was immediately a passionate flute player. She studied bachelor flute, master flute and chamber music in Zwolle and Amsterdam and attended masterclasses with: O. Messiaen, Ton de Leeuw, Peter Lukas Graf, A. Nicolet, T. Wye, W. Bennet, Wil Offermans, Phil Glass, Wilbert Hazelzet, Rachel Brown. She plays in several orchestras including the NLfo (Dutch Flute Orchestra) and Musica Michaëlis. She plays a boxwood Palanca traverso flute build by Fridtjof Aurin. Tineke (harpsichord) is one of the founders of Holland Baroque Society. With her twin sister Judith (violin) she plays since the Kindergarten: now professional in the ensemble ‘SEVERIJN’. She performed as harpsichordist, organist and conductor with the Cappella Amsterdam, Concerto Köln, Vocal Consort Berlin and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. Since 2014 Tineke is vocal coach of historical performance at the Royal Conservatoire DeHague. She plays famous Severijn-organ from 1650 of the St Martinuskerk in Cuijk, her big love. Tineke Steenbrink studied organ in Utrecht with Bernhard Winsemius and Willem Tanke, and harpsichord with prof. Ketil Haugsand at the Hochschule für Musik Köln. Her study here was sponsored by the Dutch ‘Fund for stage performance’ and the VSB bank. She graduated in 2004 by passing her ‘Konzertexamen’. Anna Schweizer (cello) was born in Vienna, where she studied the Cello at the university for music. After graduating she received a study grant which allowed her to continue her Cello studies in Holland, at the Conservatory Utrecht and Rotterdam, where she graduated with the Master-degree. Anna is educated both as a modern cellist and as a baroque cellist. After her Cello studies Anna went to train as an Alexander-teacher in Amsterdam, were she graduated in 2012. Anna is married with Tineke, living on a houseboat in Utrecht, teaching the Cello and Alexandertechniek and playing in various ensembles and projects both modern and baroque. Anna has a baroque cello ‘Jacob Weiss, Salzburg 1740’ of the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation on loan.
