Junior Bach Festival

The JUNIOR BACH FESTIVAL founded in 1953, is dedicated to touching young lives by promoting the study and performance of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Presented annually about the time of Bach’s birthday, March 21, the public Festival concerts feature some of the finest young musical talent in California. This year, ten concerts will be held in locations throughout the Bay area on the weekends of March 13-15 and March 20-22, 2015. Our performers, ages 18 years and under, have been selected through professionally adjudicated auditions. A rich variety of Bach’s works will be represented in their original instrumentation or in transpositions for instruments as diverse as bassoon, guitar, marimba, and steel drum. The Junior Bach Festival is delighted to participate in Bach in the Subways for the first time this year. Bay Area Rapid Transit has issued a permit for our young musicians to perform in the Downtown Berkeley Bart Station from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and again from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 21st.
