Venetia Antiqua Ensemble Ba-ROCKS Bach!!
Repertoire to include Hochzeitskantate “Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten,” BWV 202
Venetia Antiqua Ensemble is a synthesis of international performers with a vast range of experience and repertoire, all of whom live or have studied in Venice, and who have dedicated themselves to the preservation of the integrity of her Baroque musical traditions. All music is performed on original instruments or exact copies, using the performance practices of the time. Great care is taken in the research and choice of repertoire, which is culled from old favorites and unpublished but equally glorious works. Individually, the musicians continue to perform with many of the most famous conductors (Andrea Marcon, Sir Simon Rattle, Marc Minkowski, Alan Curtis, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, etc) and orchestras (Venice Baroque Orchestra, Solisti Veneti, Santa Fe Pro Musica, etc) in the world’s highest-level theaters and concert halls (Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Musikverein, etc). They record with top labels (Sony, Arts, Deutsche Grammophon, Towerhill, etc). More info at www.venicemusicproject.it.
A rare and versatile performer, Liesl Odenweller consistently delights audiences and critics throughout Europe in her unique and exciting interpretations of a wide variety of repertoire. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, and has sung operatic roles in some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses. Major concert engagements have included gala events in Venice and Rome, as well as in Milan and New York: Mozart Mass in C Minor, Poulenc Gloria, Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder, Vaughan Williams Dona nobis pacem, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Mozart Requiem, Szymanovsky Stabat Mater, Brahms Requiem, and Fauré Requiem at Carnegie Hall, the Auditorium di Milano, Teatro La Fenice, Festival de La Ciotat, Eglise de la Madeleine, Palazzo Ducale, and the Ratzeburger Dom, collaborating with such orchestras as Riccardo Chailly’s Orchestra Verdi di Milano, the New England Symphonic Ensemble, and the Neue Bachorchestra. Liesl Odenweller’s gown and jewels are designed by Gualti of Venice. More complete information is available at www.lieslodenweller.com.Venetia Antiqua Ensemble Ba-ROCKS Bach!!
