Marisa Maupin, soprano, received her graduate degree from the Royal College of Music, and her bachelor’s degree from Westminster Choir College. She’s excited to be kicking off Bach in the Subways LA for a second year with the hilarious Coffee Cantata. When she sings the line, “Without coffee, I’m like a dried up piece of old roast goat,” she thinks Bach must have been writing about her, personally. Marisa enjoys singing Bach because of the instrumental nature of his vocal lines and their constant duets with the ensemble instruments, and because of the unexpected moments of pure jazz sprinkled throughout his music. Marisa teaches singing and piano in her private music studio in Lancaster, CA.
