The Baltimore Symphony Musicians’ Bach in the Subways appearance is a present to residents and commuters coming to and from East Baltimore, along with doctors, nurses, patients, and support staff at the nearby Johns Hopkins University Medical Campus.

Come See/Hear our multi-talented friend Paul Sherman kick off the 10 Hour Bach Marathon as he conducts the COFFEE CANTATA at 9 am, THEN check out his baroque oboe skills as he performs with the LA BAROQUE PLAYERS at 11 am!!!
Dr. Paul Sherman is known for performances that encompass a wide range of musical styles and eras. His musical pursuits include classical music, free jazz, Baroque historical performance on period instruments, the performance and support of new music from both well-known and young composers and many varieties of “world musics”. He has appeared on oboe with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, LA Master Chorale, Musica Angelica the Ojai Music Festival and the Palimpsest Ferneyhough Festival at UCSD. He has traveled worldwide: to Siem Reap Cambodia to participate in a festival of music by South East Asian composers and traditional instrumentalist, to Vietnam and Bali to teach and perform and, this summer, to Paris. His degrees are from CalArts, and USC, where he studied oboe performance, music history, instrumental conducting and baroque period performance. He is a full-time instructor of music history at Glendale College and conductor of the Pasadena Summer Youth Chamber Orchestra and the Crown City Symphony.
