Kelsey Jian

Kelsey Jian is currently a junior at Stockdale High School. She started piano at the age of five and she also plays violin, which she started in sixth grade. She has been studying piano with Mrs. Farrer since she moved to Bakersfield from Lawrence, Kansas, in sixth grade. She has played piano on KVPR’s Young Artists Spotlights as a soloist. She is an active member in her school orchestra, the Bakersfield Youth Symphony, CODA Honor Symphony, and CASMEC String Orchestra. Kelsey is an excellent student and has been engaged in various community and volunteer activities.

Samantha Ng

Samantha is currently a senior at Stockdale High School and is the principal viola in the school orchestra. She started playing the violin at age 9 and started the viola at age 14. She has participated in Bakersfield Youth Symphony and its quartet for two years. She additionally earned the superior award in California Association for Music Education Kern County Solo and Ensemble Festival and the Chamber Music Intensive Scholarship at the University of the Pacific. She also finds inspiration for music through traditional Chinese dance which she started performing at age 9
