Philher Method
Suzuki Music Program of Los Angeles (SMPLA)
The Suzuki Music Program of Los Angeles (SMPLA) is an association of six music teachers
who use the Suzuki Method™ to teach violin, viola, and guitar to children of all ages. This school-year we have performed as a group in various locations around Los Angeles, including the Topanga Mall, Jewish Home for the Aging, and Disneyland. The organization was founded by the late Idell Low in 1974.

Kaleidoscope
A tour de force.
-Rodney Punt, The Huffington Post
Kaleidoscope’s performance of Mahler 4 was in the handful of best concerts I’ve ever been to!
-Rich Capparela, KUSC
A 45-minute line at the box office, out the door, and into the street… An audience of mostly 20- and 30- somethings (and at least one dog)… Food trucks, a DJ, a bar in the bass section… …all for a 10pm concert that featured a West Coast premiere, Mozart, and Schoenberg. Tell me again how classical music is dying.
-Brian Lauritzen, KUSC
Kaleidoscope is a conductorless chamber orchestra dedicated to enriching lives through exhilarating concert experiences, artistic excellence, musician leadership, and connecting with the diverse communities of Los Angeles. We envision a world where our commitment to a collaborative artistic process results in profound orchestral performances that inspire people to pursue cooperation and artistry in their own creative, professional, and personal lives.
As one of only a few conductorless orchestras in the world, Kaleidoscope performed its inaugural concerts in November 2014. Within the next month, Kaleidoscope received its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and raised over $30,000 through Kickstarter.
Since its founding, Kaleidoscope has performed 16 innovative orchestra concerts through Los Angeles, all free for those under age 18. We have also worked to form partnerships and engage the Los Angeles community with many performances at schools, homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, and other underserved parts of our community.
